A CHINS case may be opened any time Child Protective Services believes a child to be in danger. If you are involved in a CHINS case, seeking counsel from an experienced attorney is recommended.
CHINS stands for “Child in Need of Services.” These cases are often opened when abuse or neglect is suspected, but they may also be opened for children who are considered a danger to themselves. These cases usually involve several hearings. The goal is always to protect the best interests and welfare of the child in question while protecting the rights of the parents.
When your family becomes involved in a CHINS case, it is only natural to feel overwhelmed and frightened about the outcome. As your advocate, I will do everything in my power to help you keep your family together and/or reunite with your child as soon as possible. I understand how difficult these cases can be, and I will always be available to provide answers and reassurance as you need it.
If you are involved in a CHINS case and in need of legal representation, I am here to help. I spent six years working as a staff attorney for DCS, so I know these cases inside and out. Please contact my office today to make an appointment.
